At the tournament finals Marfio faced Lumpinee champion Sakeddaw Kiatputon but was unable to pass the quarter final stage, losing by unanimous decision. Earlier that year he had retained his W.K.N. Brazilian title by stopping his opponent at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2003 Preliminary Brazil.
